X² is basically a short prequel to the theatrical X film. It consists of four music videos. The first three are merely stills of CLAMP's pre-1994 X artwork, but the fourth is animated by Madhouse. Being the only music video that contains actual plot, the fourth video introduces some of the major characters and quickly lashes through the first few X manga (equivalent to X TV series episodes 1-3) which take place before the theatrical movie.

Three years have passed since Joji Uehara lost his father and took over his eatery “Yurie”. Despite Joji’s impressive culinary skills, his business continues to dwindle. One day, Kim Joo-ri, who came from South Korea to learn Japanese cuisine, arrives at the restaurant by coincidence. This film is his first feature length work, and stars Sho Aoyagi of Gekidan EXILE, a multi-award-winning actor known for his roles in various films and dramas. Co-starring is Japan-based South Korean actress and model Ha Yeonsoo, who recently gained notable attention for her role in the NHK drama series “The Tiger and Her Wings.”

The little girl just doesn't feel comfortable in the strange family but soon finds a good friend: Laurent, a 17-year old French alien employee. Laurent is tormented by August, the "head of the family", but cannot defend himself because as soon as he causes a conflict he will be sent into an approved school in France which is even worse. Dagmar and Laurent become very close and become almost like brother and sister, they are all they have and Dagmar even falls a bit in love with Laurent. One day August sees how Laurent hugs Dagmar, he provokes a conflict and at the end Laurent is sent back to France...

本作は、同じ時間軸を3つの視点から描くクライムエンタテインメント。IT企業の警備員として働く高島誠人は、父が残した多額の借金を知らぬ間に相続し返済に追われていた。恋人へのプロポーズを控えた誠人は、知人の桝井から「勤め先の機密データを持ち出せば100万円を払う」という依頼を受けることに。しかし、そのデータが超高精度の“AI株価予想プログラム”だと気付き、報酬の増額を要求。これに激怒した桝井は誠人の妹を誘拐し、データとの交換を迫る。誠人が妹を助けるため指定場所へ向かうと、そこには桝井の遺体が転がっていた。物語は誠人がデータを持ち出す前に遡ると、データをめぐり交錯するさまざまな思惑や、誠人を取り巻く人物たちの本性が明らかになっていく。
